The Golden Age of Paddling:

Up until 1986, the state of California was allowed to use corporal punishment in schools. Boys and girls got spanked with wooden paddle usally in fornt of classmates. Efforts to reintroduce it into the California school system occured in 1996. Tennesses, Texas, Wyoming, and Missouri among others still use the paddle as punishment. Ouch!

A 100 years ago, it was thought that sick childern would heal faster if they were exposed to plenty of "fresh air". Basically, if you got sick, out you'd go. This is St. James' Park Open-Air School for the Ill. If you had  awsome parents a "sitting-out bag" to keep you  from dying a horrible, slow, cold death form frost-bite.

The Nurse's Office:

Recess:

"Hey, Mom, a kid died on the monkey bars today!" What seems to be crazy skeleton from an abandoned building, is actually designed for childern's play. In the early 1900's these playgrounds were built in order to keep idle childern away from the fumes of major factories That's seriously hardcore considering I would freak out when I fell off the swings.

TIDBITS in HISTORY

It's crazy, but in 1975, New York had over 80 school districts with rifle teams. In 1984, they dropped to 64. However, in 1990 Congress legislated to make schools "gun-free zones". What were these school's thinking? Giving rifles to hormone and impluse driven boys and girls could not have been a very bright idea. Just sayin'.
