AVID Halloween Dance

By Chrislyn Ancheta

Team F-112 blasted off their 2nd Annual Gathering of the Vibes Halloween Spooktacular with many classes from our district.  We invited classes from Palm Desert High School and Summit Transition School as well as our parents to celebrate the Halloween Holiday.  Some celebrants included our former F-112 teammates including Angel and Patrick.

At the party we ate a lot of our homemade pasta and garlic bread.  The Hwy 112 Diner Cooking Club joined the festivities setting up delicious cookie and rice krispy treat stations as well as a quesadilla stand which allowed everybody of the 80 plus people in attendance to share in the cooking duties.

Some people dressed in costumes, all made a treat or many treats and we all shared in the groove with our spooktacular musical soundtrack and dancing.

We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Tournament of the Realm

By Misael Magana

Just a quick note to the amazing SHHS staff that Mr. Marcus Wood was was named as the DSUSD Principal of the Year.  Please help us in congratulating him because our principal rocks!

Congrats, Mr. Wood... GO KNIGHTS!

The Tournament of the Realm has passed and the winner of sweepstakes, and anything else related to this interesting event has already happened and is gone. To many people asking, “Hey what were the results of this wonderful event, huh?” Well, the bands who got sweepstakes, auxiliary, best performances, and much more will be answered. The Tournament of the Realm’s results have come in, and if you already know the results, well here is a recap. As always the first prize shall be announced first, or better “Sweepstakes”. Sweepstakes are the overall prize, this title was given to La Quinta for visual performance, and music. Auxiliar title went to Palm Desert, for unknown causes, but it should have been good to get, I think? As well as according to some SHHS staff, Rancho Verde had won auxiliar on colorguard, music, and visuals. Although we cannot forget about SHHS, because our school is ours and no one elses. We did do good according to one of the band staff, they said that Color Guard, Drum, and Band did really well, overall. Well, that was basically all the Tournament of the Realm had to offer this year, so lets work hard to make next year’s tournament even better than the last.

Career day-

LAW ENFORCMENT

SEE YOU THERE

Congratulations to Mr. Tyler and his World Quest Team for competing against other high schools in the valley at Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert campus!

From ghouls to goblins, from cheerleaders to Barbie dolls, our students were engulfed in the Halloween Spirit. The day of Halloween, AVID students held a ghostly dance. There were endless treats and deadly music. Sadly Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was not part of the music selection but the popular “Cha-Cha Slide” and “Cupid Shuffle” was in the mix. It was a treat to watch vampires getting along with witches. Ironically the one with the best dance moves was someone who did not actually have muscles. There were plenty of interesting costumes but by far the most creative was Ms. Frazer, the AVID teacher, who rocked pink hair and blue contacts posing as Cupid from Monster High. Before all the fun ended the students held a costume contest; the winners were Kaylor Robertson (12) and Tyler Jerret (11) who each received Starbucks gift cards. The dance created a haven for all the different monsters that roamed Shadow Hills High School on Halloween.
