#3 Competitive Cheerleading
The third most dangerous sport in the world is competitive cheerleading. Most people argue about whether cheer is a sport, but let me tell you, it is. They practicing up to 10 hours a week, which is more than the average high school football team! I’m not saying their practices are as intense as football, but they can get pretty intense. If you are a “flyer” on the team then that means you are light enough to throw and you spend most of your time in the air. If your “throwers” throw you 1 inch off… splat! Also, you have to have guts to be a flyer because you are relying on 5 other girls to catch you after you’ve been thrown 15 feet into the air. On average about 20,000 cheerleaders are treated at the hospital each year from cheerleading.
#2 Horseback Riding
The second most dangerous sport in the world oddly enough is horseback riding. The average racing horse is about 900 pounds, can run up to 45 mph, and stands at about 16 hands (5’3). Imagine falling out of a car going 45 mph with other cars running you over afterwards. That’s basically what’s going to happen if you fall off a racehorse during a race. Not only can you break every bone in your body but you can easily die from a severe concussion or just basically being stomped to death. Also, the racers are quite brutal. They are not going to stop because YOU fell of your horse. They are trying to get the cash prize or trophy. About 20 people die from horseracing each year. So, good luck if you fall off your horse while racing.

The Crowd is going wild, there’s two seconds left, and the quarterback throws the ball in the end zone. TOUCHDOWN! The (TBD) win the 2014 Super bowl! But who won, will it be your favorite team or will it be the team you really hate. Well we won’t know until February 2nd, 2014. The favorites to win are the Green Bay Packers or the Seattle Seahawks. But these teams aren’t my prediction.
I think a lot of teams have a chance for the super bowl but right now it looks like the Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the NFL. After winning 8 straight games who wouldn’t think that they would win the Super Bowl. The Chiefs are in good shape to win the super bowl. After last year’s horrific 2-14 start they really turned things around. They added Alex Smith, the 49ers old backup to Colin Kaepernick, and the seemed to make the difference. We hope to see the Chiefs in the playoffs and see how far they can take this undefeatable streak.
The Denver Broncos also have a good chance with a 7-1 record. Peyton Manning has been the best addition to their offense. Their only loss has come from the Indianapolis Colts. These two teams (Broncos and Chiefs) are in the same division, so that means one of them is going to have to get one of the wild card spots. They are going to fight all season long to win the AFC west and we’ll see who comes out on top.
Also the 49ers are a really good team to win the super bowl. Last year they went all the way to the super bowl just to lose to the Baltimore Ravens. This year the 49ers are doing really good with QB Kolin Kaepernick. CBS Philly said “The 49ers have a 6/1 odds to win the super bowl.”
There are many other teams that have a chance but these two are our top two. The New Orleans Saints are 6-1 and the Seattle Seahawks are 7-1.This year’s super bowl will be an exciting one. So I bet you guys are waiting for who I think will win. Well this guess isn’t favoritism it is based on facts and their records. Seattle Seahawks over Denver Broncos.
They are known for unique wardrobe, fabulous style, and superior skills. The Oregon Ducks are currently ranked the 3rd best team in the National College Football Association (NCFA). Leading with the all-time record, the Oregon Ducks have a total of 384 different uniform combinations. The reason for this ridiculous number of combinations is because the multi-million dollar company, Nike, granted outfitting rights to the Oregon ducks. Phil Knight attended the University of Oregon and is now the founder of Nike. He gives back to his college by supplying an abundant amount of Nike football wear to all of Oregon’s sports teams.
Pink is the official color for October to support Breast-Cancer Awareness month, so the Oregon Ducks take that and run with it, literally. With their new bright pink helmets, cleats, and accessories (headbands, sweatbands, arm sleeves, and gloves) the Ducks are one of the flashiest football teams on the field. Everyone knows when the Ducks take the field because of their unique wardrobe.
Their helmets also help raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a charity that has raised over 2.6 million dollars for scientific research to help find a cure for women’s breast cancer. Nike stated 25 pink helmets would be auctioned off through the course of the week beginning Saturday. To add quite an amount of value to the helmets, they will be signed by a numerous amount of Oregon legends, such as quarterbacks Dan Fouts and Joey Harrington. “Cancer has touched so many lives and hopefully, with Nike and the Kay Yow cancer fund, we can help create awareness and help raise money for the fight against women’s breast cancer,’’ Oregon coach, Mark Helfrich, continued, “It is an honor to join coach Yow’s team in a fight that unites all of us.’’
Oregon is currently 7-0 and ranked 3rd in the country behind the Florida Gators who are ranked number 2 and the Alabama Crimson Tide who are ranked number 1.
What would you consider the most dangerous sport in the world? Football, because of the non-stop physical contact? NASCAR, because of the dangerous speed? Or surfing, because of the massive strength of the ocean?
#1 Bull Riding
Most people would have football as their first choice, but to the people who think that, you’re in for a big surprise. Bull riding is the considered the most dangerous sport in the world. A 200 pound man to be riding and 1000 pound bull is pretty sketchy. That bull can throw you up to 10 feet in the air, and if you land wrong you can break a numerous amount of bones and even become paralyzed. The average number of seconds a bull rider rides a bull without falling off is about 6.7 seconds. Most people say that’s not a long time, but try saying that after you’ve have actually ridden one. On average, 25 people die each year from bull riding. I know that doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is for a sport.
